About Us

Westside Bee Boyz, LLC, is a Chicago company founded in 2014 by Thad J. Smith, Chicago’s first urban apiary services company and purveyor of natural, locally harvested honey.

Westside Bee Boyz is a minority-owned and operated company on a mission to promote entrepreneurship thru sustainable community development and beekeeping initiatives in underserved communities on the westside of Chicago including youth detention centers, and prisons.

Westside Bee Boys is committed to making a difference through the education and promotion of urban beekeeping, as well as sourcing, and showcasing related products from other minority and women-owned businesses.

Westside Bee Boyz sells a variety of honey-based products including, honey, refreshing honey water, delicious honey soda, natural honey soaps, honey lotions, with a percentage allocated to growing our community Makerspace.

As good stewards, our projects are built upon whole-integrated design plans that include key elements such as water, soil, plants, and clean energy.  We believe that each piece of land is a gemstone, an underutilized asset that can bring attention and funding to model the benefits of doing more with less through sustainable community development.
